Celebrating Partnerships: US Army PEO STRI
General Dynamics Mission Systems
We develop mission critical solutions for those that lead, serve and protect the world we live in.
Our Range Systems business area under the Land & Air Systems line of business hosted a class of students from the PEO STRI Acquisition Academy Apprentice Program (A3P) recently in Orlando, Florida.
The team also provided several demonstrations that included key products/programs such as the Electronic-Tactical Engagement Simulation (E-TES) Mk19 simulator, the Intelligence/Electronic Warfare Tactical Proficiency Trainer (IEWTPT) and the Expeditionary LVC Command Center (XLCC). Several lab tours were also given to the A3P cohort. GDMS Range Systems had one of their own Engineering Leadership Program (ELP) participants,? Evan Dahle , serve as a co-host to the A3P cohort visitors.
Vice President of Range Systems? Roger McNicholas , who presented during the day, emphasized the importance of our work with PEO STRI.
“The work that we are doing together to evolve live training is critically important for our warfighters. For more than 30 years the Army has been training using the Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES), which is a form of laser-tag. While it has its strengths, it cannot represent over half the weapon systems the Army has today. As we move forward with the Synthetic Training Environment (STE) Live Training System (LTS), we will finally be able to close those gaps, allowing the brigade combat team commanders to employ all their capabilities and to train as they would fight."
PEO STRI A3P Dean Mike Landers spoke of the outstanding educational experience the visit offered his students.
“This was a first-rate experience for our cohort.?I think you saw with their enthusiasm and their appreciation for the effort and event.?The span of programs your team covered, insight into engineering, sustainment and contracting tied together those elements we are attempting to parallel in this A3P session.?The engineers are certainly aware of Product Line Engineering now. You and your team provided insight into the industry efforts to meet government customer acquisition needs."
He added, “Thank you for the candor and willingness to help educate new members to the Army and acquisition."
