Celebrating Our Past as We Plan for Our Future

Celebrating milestones is a special part of life and it’s always heartwarming and inspirational to reflect proudly on the past and look ahead to ways in which we can make a significant impact in the future.

This year, we’re honoring a monumental milestone for DePuy Synthes: 125 years of keeping people moving.

It all started with our founder, Revra DePuy, and his vision to improve the management of fractures and deformities. With his invention of both the custom-fit fiber and wire-mesh splints, he created the world’s first orthopaedics company. Our business has evolved and grown a great deal over the subsequent decades, but we remain committed to our founder’s vision by continuing to ask, “How can we make things better?”

I’m incredibly fortunate to lead a talented and passionate team that’s always pushing the boundaries to find new ways to help our customers and patients. Our commitment to changing the orthopaedic care continuum has never been stronger, and our responsibility to advance patient care and improve value across the wide range of healthcare settings has never been greater. After 125 years, this is how DePuy Synthes has become one of the largest and most trusted orthopaedic companies in the world, and this is how we will continue to keep people moving.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to do work that positively impacts people and society. I was inspired at a young age by a family rooted deeply in healthcare. Growing up, I learned valuable lessons about the importance of helping others and acting selflessly. And throughout my career, and in each new role, I’ve found light in leaving a lasting impression on people’s lives. Fortunately, this is made possible in orthopaedics every day. We improve the quality of patients’ lives by restoring movement, helping them recover from traumatic injuries, and ultimately giving them the freedom to get back to living their lives.

We continue to shape the future of orthopaedic surgery, focusing on the next frontier where implants and technologies come together to personalize patient care before, during and after an orthopaedic procedure. We are committed to learning, iterating and evolving as we explore new technologies that help surgeons and impact the lives of their patients.
