Celebrating Our One Year Anniversary

S4 Integration Solutions, Inc. Is a S Corp created June 9th 2023 shortly after making the decision to shut down The S4 Group, Inc. after 21 years of operation. Within a couple of weeks of that announcement I was approached by a long-time associate and another person who they brought to the table encouraging me to reboot the company. They understood the value proposition and wanted the company to continue. They were right!

We all rolled up our sleeves and dug in to rebuild the S4 Open products using current technology and design approaches. Within this first year we released the S4 BACnet ecobee Integration and are well on our way to being ready to Beta test the S4 BACnet N2 Integration.

Support for S4 Open products from The S4 Group, Inc.

The S4 Group, Inc. is no longer a business entity and is not associated in any way with S4 Integration Solutions, Inc. I am proud to say that there are many successful S4 Open installations in production. They are very stable and are enabling the continued use of legacy Metasys N2 installations until the building owner is ready to move to current technology. The building owner is in control of when this happens when they can afford both the disruption of operations and the financial impact of the transition.

Enhancements and bug fixes to S4 Open products are not possible since S4 Integration Solutions, Inc. does not have access to the product source code. The S4 Group, Inc. was kept in operation until all warranty and Software Assurance subscription commitments were met.

I am happy to answer simple questions about the S4 Open products as a courtesy to partners and customers of The S4 Group, Inc. in hopes of continuing relationships with those organizations through S4 Integration Solutions, Inc. Longer term, or more complex, engagements will be billed at the then current S4 Integration Solutions, Inc. consulting rate.

The S4 BACnet ecobee Integration

This product is in production and is available for purchase. Documentation, product details, and a case study can be found on the product page of our website. This product was designed with one of its primary goals being reusable code. We very carefully isolated all ecobee-unique code to accomplish this goal. Everything else makes up our S4IS Integration Framework. This approach is already delivering benefits as it is streamlining the development of our S4 BACnet N2 Integration.

The Beta test site for the S4 BACnet ecobee Integration was a university campus in SouthWestern US. The University had an installed base of 250 ecobee thermostats and a Tridium BAS. The universities goal was to integrate the ecobee thermostats into Tridium and implement an automated demand-response application. The Beta test is complete and the site has now transitioned to a production installation.

The S4 BACnet N2 Integration is Under Development

Development and System Testing is continuing at a rapid pace in large part due to the use of our Integration Framework. A benefit of this approach is that all S4IS products will share a similar User Interface and similar Integration Process. We are performing intensive in-house system testing in preparation for starting the Beta Test process.

System Testing - Installment 1

Over the last several weeks we have accomplished the following:

• Confirmed overall UI navigation structure and scalability
• Tested User creation and administration
• Tested System licensing, updating, and expiration
• Tested System Configuration and Setup wizard
• Tested S4IS Template import, assignment to devices, and maintenance
• Tested device discovery and initialization for N2 Open, N2B, and System91 devices
• Tested point read operations for all data types in N2 Open devices
• Tested Resource File Conversion to S4IS Template for .DMO and .PRN files.

Preparation for Beta Test

Within the next week we will be ordering the systems and hardware to support Beta testing of the S4 BACnet N2 Integration.
