Celebrating Others: 90ish Days In

www.theohc.net

As I close out the first 90ish days of my intention to celebrate others, I want to take some time to pause and reflect.

You will find that I take time to regularly celebrate the idea of pausing and reflecting.??I believe it is one of, if not the most important, tools we have to address the many challenges we face in our personal and professional lives.

It helps with conflict, bridges gaps, produces wisdom, allows us to?see?the person or situation facing us, and creates space for a thoughtful response.

My intention for this pause is to better understand the impact of taking time every day to celebrate those in my life.

I will share my takeaways from a personal and external perspective.??I intend to also call out the impact I experienced and the potential impact outside of myself.

I continue to see, and realize, that there is quite a bit in our lives, directly and indirectly telling us we are not doing enough, and on top of that we are typically our worst critic.??

I believe that balance is a requirement for healthy, and whole, self-awareness.??Celebrating others is a great counter-balance to the experience of internal and external critique.??It's a way to be authentically seen in an ever-increasing digital world.

Personal Impact

Celebrating others is sustainable

Celebrating others has had a profound impact on how I see the world around me.??I'm looking for the good and I'm looking to celebrate.??It's become automatic.

Celebrating is good for the soul

With the idea that the soul transcends time, celebrating others is an investment in the past, present, and future of my life and relationships.

Celebrating myself has become more comfortable

I don't take this lightly because it's something I've always struggled with.??I'd rather have, and can better internalize, critical feedback.??With humility at the forefront, I'm getting better at internalizing and celebrating the positive feedback as well

Celebration has a boomerang effect

Similar to the item above, when I send celebration out to those around me it usually bounces back in a positive way.??This isn't why I started or sustain celebrating, however, it's a noted observation.??

Celebration is a selfless reward

Growing up, my Dad always reminded me to never give with the intent of receiving back.??I took this to heart and do my best to live this out, however, sometimes the ego gets in the way.??By celebrating others there is an internal reward that I'm contributing positively to the world around me without an expectation of anything back.

External Impact

Celebration is contagious

I've found that by celebrating others there was a continuation of that celebration to others from the person I celebrated. Kind of a pay it forward phenomena.

Celebrating enhances quality

Celebrating others creates opportunities to deepen an already existing relationship and create space for more encouragement, support, and listening

Celebration is silent

Sometimes people don't want or like public acknowledgement.??That's okay, and if anything, it prompts a follow up by me, and practicing of EQ, to make sure I take note for future celebrations

Celebration elicits measurement

It puts the receiver immediately into a space of reflection.??They might ask themselves, "Do I measure up to what's been written about me", and ideally realize they do feel they measure up, and more.

Celebration is a worthwhile echo chamber

By celebrating others it creates an invitation for others to celebrate the receiver of the positive feedback.

Celebration creates common ground

Celebrating can create a level of awareness and community due to similar interests and areas of expertise.

Thank you and have a great week!!

It is amazing to see the ways people and thoughts have impacted your path and shape your journey. Using this platform the way you are is inspiring and thought provoking on how I internalize what you share. Daily messages can be hard to follow, just because of the noise of all the other streams of information. I see and hear your posts as authentic, vulnerable and aligned to the truth I see of your actions outside of this platform.
