Celebrating new beginnings

Celebrating new beginnings

What an incredible start to 2024 we have had.

We have some very exciting news to announce.....

Former BBC Breakfast TV presenter Louise Minchin has become our newest member of the the Movement Centre family by becoming a patron.

Louise has said "I am honoured and excited to become a patron of The Movement Centre. Witnessing the incredible work they do to transform the lives of children facing movement challenges is truly inspiring. I am eager to contribute to their mission and help raise awareness for the invaluable services they provide"

We are delighted and very excited for the future!

It's Gala Ball time!!

Our James Bond Gala Ball is fast approaching, we still have a few tables left if you want to come along and enjoy what will be an extravagant evening of suave and sophistication. We are delighted to have a number of Aston Martins on show for the evening too.

Its never too late to don your tuxedo and ball gown and join us in celebrating the remarkable achievements of The Movement Centre

Thank you!

We are delighted and proud to be supported by some amazing trusts & foundations this year, that will help us continue to give children the chance of reaching their full potential.

In March we welcomed Ruth from The Steve Morgan Foundation to our centre to witness first hand the work we do, we have very kindly been supplied a grant from this foundation to enable us to continue providing our specialist treatment, Thank you.

As well as trust and foundations, we are amazed by the support we receive from our families. Last week Jon Aston who is Grandad to Jaxson. Jaxson attended The Movement Centre for 12 month course of therapy.

On World Down Syndrome Day 25th March Jon completed a marathon running around the Dinosaur enclosure at Hoo Zoo & Dinosaur World. Fantastic achievement Jon well done.

Meet the team

Lynne Ford - Lynne is our Children's Therapy Coordinator.

  1. Favourite book and why? The Hobbit, my first fiction book which I read when I was 11 years old.? I fell in love with all the characters, especially the elves, and quickly moved on to The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
  2. What was your favourite subject at school? English – absolutely loved spelling, reading and writing stories.? My English teacher once played us David Bowie’s Life on Mars (my favourite artist) during one lesson, and we had to continue the story from the end of the song.
  3. Favourite holiday destination and why? Cala d’Or Majorca – had the best family holidays over there and it is such a lovely place that is not too far away.
  4. How long have you worked at The Movement Centre – 21.5 years, started in September 2002 and love the job just as much now as I did then. ?Really enjoy going in with the children and seeing their progression during their course. ?Having no IT skills whatsoever when I started here, have since discovered I’m pretty good with a spreadsheet and a database!
  5. Favourite way to spend a day off. ?Walking along the canals with my husband, especially around the Llangollen area where I went to school, and spending time with my children and grandchildren.
