Celebrating National Intern Day with Madison Cameron, FGX Marketing Intern

This National Intern Day, we celebrate fresh ideas, inspired creativity and the incredible work our intern contributed this summer. As part of the EssilorLuxottica portfolio, over the course of the 10-week Summer Internship Program, every intern got the opportunity to work across our dynamic teams, develop new skill sets, and apply their studies to experience first-hand our brands and unique business areas.

We sat down with Madison Cameron, a rising senior at Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business majoring in Marketing, to learn more about her FGX Marketing Intern experience at EssilorLuxottica.

What attracted you to apply for an internship with FGX and EssilorLuxottica?

I was interested in such a powerfully vertically integrated company, and especially FGX as they hold a new and unique spot in the portfolio.

Share your favorite collection/ style and why!

My favorite is the Foster Grant SUN LUV collection because of the reusable and recyclable materials that the frames and packing are made with.

What types of project(s) did you get to work on this summer?

I was so lucky to work on two exciting collaboration projects and cross-functionally on a market research project as well.

What types of skills did you gain during your internship?

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to analyze qualitative and quantitative data to create comprehensive internal communications toolkits.
  • Understand the strategy behind maintaining the current Gen-X customer while targeting a Gen-Z customer.
  • Immerse myself in the complexity of a vertically integrated company.?
  • Develop profitable marketing strategies that result in a high sales conversion with reasonable investment costs.

What was your favorite part of your internship??

I loved working with and learning from my managers Lindsey Jackson, Global Brand Manager and Denna Singleton, SVP, Global Marketing and Portfolio Transformation, and my mentor Abigail Wyleta, Ray-Ban Associate Brand Manager, as well as the ability to dive into other brands across the portfolio such as Oakley and Ray-Ban.


This year, EssilorLuxottica welcomed 50 interns across our U.S. locations including New York City, Mason, Ohio, McDonough, Georgia, Dallas, Texas, Foothill Ranch, CA, and more. Within our Retail, Professional Solutions, Operations, and corporate teams, they had the chance to participate in exciting workshops and activities and to fully immerse themselves in the EssilorLuxottica world, while building their networks, discovering new career path opportunities, and gaining hands-on experience to foster their personal and professional growth.
