Celebrating National Drive Electric Week | October 4, 2024
Advanced Energy United
United in our mission to accelerate the transition to 100% clean energy.
A Note From Our CEO
We’re celebrating National Drive Electric Week here at Advanced Energy United, a national campaign featuring hundreds of local events across the country to raise awareness of today's widespread availability of electric vehicles (EVs) and the benefits of going electric. Of course, a smooth transition to widespread EV adoption will require changes to our power grid, which is why this week we introduced a new resource: “EV Ready Grid Guidebook: A Practical Guide to Preparing the Grid for Electric Vehicle Adoption at Scale.” The new guidebook presents a blueprint for decision-makers to proactively pursue policy solutions that will prepare our electricity system for an increasingly electrified transportation future. America’s cars and trucks are going electric, and we’re working closely with forward-thinking policymakers so states can accelerate the switch to a transportation future with less harmful emissions, improved grid reliability, and lower consumer costs.?

Policy Update
On October 1, Pennsylvania legislators, including State Representative Brandon Markosek, took a ride on a fully electric school bus to the Pennsylvania State Capitol to advocate for the passage of House Bill 1542, which would establish a new statewide electric school bus grant program. The bill has already passed out of committee, but now faces the crucial step of being brought to the House floor for a vote. United’s Nick Bibby attended the event on the ground, highlighting the cost savings that electric buses can provide for the schools that utilize them. Read more.>?
California Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed Senate Bill 1374, which was designed to accelerate local solar adoption and would have expanded solar benefits by reversing a prior California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) decision that prevents schools and apartment buildings from being able to use solar energy generated on their properties. United’s Edson Perez reprimanded Newsom’s decision, stating that the veto of the bill was a missed opportunity for the state’s clean energy goals. Read more.>?
