Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week

As National Apprenticeship Week comes to a close, we'd like to introduce you to our second Apprentice, Eren Sen. Eren is our Brewing Apprentice at Meantime Brewery and he's studying an Institution of Brewing and Distillery course at Nottingham University. We sat down with him to find out what he has got up to in his first four months at Asahi UK.

Can you talk us through a typical day in your role?

I’ll normally arrive to work and check my emails and calendar then plan my day around that. I’ll also spend some of my day shadowing and attending meetings to learn more about the business which I really enjoy.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

There is no “typical” day and every day is different, which makes the role very interesting. I really enjoy making connections with people from a variety of backgrounds within the business, I feel like has helped build my own skills and gain confidence in this environment.

What are you most looking forward to?

This position has given me opportunities to develop skills in different areas including engineering, packaging, quality control and brewing - I’m excited to see what this will lead to in the future.

If someone was thinking of applying for an apprenticeship, what advice would you give them?

I would say if you’re thinking about doing it then go for it! If you give it a try and the apprenticeship isn’t for you, you can always take the skills you learn and use them to pursue something else in the future. Although getting paid is a bonus, don’t apply to an apprenticeship just for the pay - do it for the experience and connections you can build, which are priceless.
