Celebrating my Creative Partner in Crime

Today I celebrate my creative and business partner, friend, colleague and co-daydreamer Emma J Davis.

Why? Because ALL our achievements wouldn’t be possible without the people helping us make them tangible and real… without those that believe in us.

Emma and I met at Work Club Global’s club space, more specifically, in the kitchen - of course, right? Where else! -. In hind side, I think something inside me (my gut feeling perhaps?) knew that Emma was going to be much more than a 'good business acquittance'.

Emma 'saw me' and took the time to understand the guidance I needed. I quickly became her client and friend. She took me in an incredible journey of discovery and growth, a journey that has shaped my life in a professional and personal level. We are definitely much more than our jobs, however my work reflects my art, and my art reflects who I am.

After many heart-felt conversations with Emma about our passions and work, it felt natural for both of us to try and do something together to bring our vision to life.

At first, we didn’t know what it was going to be, nor what it would look like. We knew we wanted something different, visceral, real, raw; a space for everyone to experience what it means to be human, to leave all labels at the door and share from a place of vulnerability and strength at the same time. And we knew we needed to create the right ‘set and setting’ for people to give themselves to the experience and ‘just be’ in it.

This is how we started InscapesProjects, as we both share a passion for creating experiences that connect us to our feelings, emotions, and human essence. Experiences that leave an impact and give us pleasure. We both believe in art, great design, and beautiful stories, as key drivers of our work. That’s what we do as professionals, Emma as a Creative Director and Brand Adviser, and I do it as an Artistic Director and Curator.

Inscapes doesn’t respond to one only format, it changes and transforms as we feel it needs to.

Our first project was an immersive curated dining experience where we explored the theme of Transformation: how becoming is shaping us. It was a highly designed intimate experience: from the days prior to the event until the day after. It takes time and trust for 18 guests to feel safe and dive into a deep conversation. And we did it, it was just incredible. Nor our guests, nor us, could have imagined the results.

Straight after our first Inscapes, people were already asking for the second, and we wanted more too. At that time Melbourne Design Week EOIs were open and we though why not? and here we are creating an experience for all humans of Melbourne (and beyond) with an incredible team of more than 20 professionals and creatives.

Emma, thank you for challenging my ideas and thinking, for believing in my creativity and daydreaming with me. Thank you for being audacious.
