Celebrating My 10 Year Work Anniversary!

Celebrating My 10 Year Work Anniversary!

Today marks a whole decade since I started my career at Brite Recruitment.

MY 10 YEARS REVIEWED

Back in August 2011, I got my first office job at Brite Recruitment as an Office Administrator. Fast forward to today, after three promotions and a focus on recruitment, I am now Operations Director.

When I finished my A Levels, I knew University wasn’t an avenue I wanted to go down. Instead, I started looking for employment and was lucky enough to be offered the role at Brite Recruitment.

It was my first office job when I was just 17 and I learnt A LOT. My role involved everything from making the perfect cup of tea to answering enquiries via the phone and email, as well as supporting with resourcing CVs.

My current role is VERY different now. As well as managing a small team, I also complete the full 360 recruitment process. But I still go back to my roots and resource CVs as well as some office management and accounts tasks.

HOW LONG DO PEOPLE STAY IN JOBS?

On average, people stay in jobs for around 4.1 years according to the Bureau of Labour Statistics. People assume a lot about a person from the amount of time they spend with a company. If you stay for a short period of time at several jobs, you could be considered a ‘job hopper’. If you stay at a job for too long, you might be seen to be set in your ways.

?

WHY I’VE STAYED

There are a number of reasons I’ve stayed at Brite Recruitment:

I Love My Job

I speak to so many unhappy people on a daily basis who aren’t satisfied in their jobs. Being able to contribute to someone else’s happiness and make a real difference in their lives brings me a great sense of achievement.

Progression & Development

Although a small and independent company, Brite has given me the skills and knowledge needed to develop into the Recruiter I am today. With lots of internal progression available, I’ve been able to climb up the career ladder within the same business.

The Team

Being a small agency means close working quarters with your colleagues. People come and go but there are bonds that are formed at work that I wouldn’t want to give up!

Emotionally Invested

My career started here when I was just 17 years old. Since then, I have developed a real passion for my work here and am completely invested and loyal to the vision & mission of the company.

WHY OTHERS STAY IN THEIR JOBS

Company Culture

Nowadays, company culture is a huge part of the recruitment process. If a candidate doesn’t fit with the company’s beliefs and values, then they’re unlikely to stay in the position for long. Employees who have the same thinking and behaviour as the company are likely to feel they are a part of something special and not want to leave.

Purpose & Meaning

Good employees are those that thrive in your business. The work they contribute really makes an impact, and their unique talents help the team succeed. The role gives them a true purpose and meaning that they might not find anywhere else.

Co-workers

Working within a team you genuinely get along with can have an excellent impact on the motivation levels within the business. Both friendships and partnerships are formed within the working environment. There’s a bond between employees that can be intensely strong, encouraging employees to stay for the people they work with.

Encouraged to Achieve Potential

Having a growth and development plan for your employees can go a long way to keeping them in the business. Ongoing career development is a great encourager for employees to stay and learn, for the benefit of both the employee and the business.

Trust in Leadership

Employees want to be treated well and trusting the leadership is the right place to start. Being fairly treated and cared about by management gives the employee the satisfaction they rightly deserve.

Fair Compensation

Salary can play a huge part in an employee’s reason for staying. Although someone may not thoroughly enjoy their role, they know that the consistent hard work they do will be fairly compensated.

?

SHOULD YOU STAY IN YOUR JOB?

How long you stay in a job is completely up to you. There’s no magic number of years you should stay. It all depends on your own, personal circumstance.

For instance, if you enjoy your job and the company you work for, it doesn’t matter that you’ve been there for years. However, if you are adamant that a new job is the only route for you, please feel free to get in touch. Hopefully, with Brite Recruitment’s help, we can find what you want!
