Celebrating a Monumental Achievement: Avaada Energy Secures 1050 MWp Solar Power Project from NTPC

This week marks another significant milestone in our journey at Avaada Group , one that fills me with immense pride and gratitude. I am delighted to announce that #Avaada Energy, the IPP arm of Avaada Group, has won the largest single bid of 1050 MWp from NTPC Limited. This monumental achievement not only highlights our capability to deliver major renewable energy projects but also reinforces our unwavering commitment to powering India's sustainable future. Reflecting on our journey, it feels like just yesterday when, back in 2009, we signed our first MOU for a 40 MW solar thermal power plant in Gujarat. Despite the challenges, we converted it into a 15 MW solar plant in Kutch, planting a small seed with a grand vision. Fast forward to 2022, we made history by building the world’s largest solar power plant by any IPP, a 1250 MWp project at a single location in Rajasthan. This project held the title of the largest project developed by an independent IPP worldwide until 2023.

Today, I am proud to share that our secured capacity has exceeded 15 GWp. This incredible journey reflects the passion, relentless hard work, innovative spirit, and commitment to excellence displayed by the entire Avaada family. It is also a reflection of the blessings and support from all our well-wishers and stakeholders.

Our shareholders, including ADB, Brookfield, DEG, FMO, Proparco, GPSC, and GE Capital, have been instrumental in encouraging us to unleash India's potential in the energy transition. Their support has been invaluable in helping us push the boundaries of what’s possible.

But we are not stopping here! HR Avaada Power is also venturing into Agrivoltaic Solar solutions in Maharashtra. Out of the total 29 million consumers in Maharashtra, around 4.5 million are agriculture consumers, consuming 22% of the electricity. Currently, power is supplied to agricultural consumers during the day and night on a rotational basis. This nighttime supply has been inconvenient for farmers, who have long demanded reliable daytime electricity.

We have decided to take responsibility in a few districts of Maharashtra to provide our farmer brothers with reliable daytime power. This initiative merges solar power with sustainable agriculture, showcasing our commitment to diversification and eco-friendly practices. By doing so, we aim to support farmers and ensure that industries and businesses in the state receive electricity at a reasonable rate, maintaining their competitiveness. This massive leap forward in helping India transition to a sustainable future is something we're incredibly passionate about. Upon commissioning, the 1050 MWp project will power more than 1.2 million households, a significant step towards a greener future.
