Celebrating Moments

Celebrating Moments

When the end comes, which will happen to us all, and you are lying on your deathbed, your biggest regrets will not be that you just did not spend more time at the office.

Life has a knack of catching up with us, even pass us by and we don’t even realise it until, well, usually until it’s too late.

Do you ever stop long enough to notice those special times in your life and in those of the special people around you??

Do you ever stop long enough to celebrate, not just the big markers in life such as births, marriages, and wedding anniversaries, which are important of course, but also small moments which might not seem to have the same impact but, over time, they all add up.

When I look at my own life, there have been many moments to celebrate, even for others in my family and friends’ circle.?

Here are just some examples that readily come to mind:

·??????Every year, on my parents wedding anniversary, my dad gives my mum a rose for every year they have been married….and, last December, that was 60 of them. A stunning bunch of roses indeed.?

·??????Just a few years ago, I wrote gratitude journals to my mum, daughter, sisters, and a good friend. Then I posted them before I left to return to South Africa. Listening to their responses was a double celebration, first I celebrated them, then every moment they mentioned it, every time they talked about it and even, when I heard second hand how much that meant to them, it was a celebration for me…

·??????Spending a week every summer with my very best friends. Having been friends for over 40 years, coming together every year has many moments to enjoy, many moments of laughter, many moments to celebrate.

·??????Walking to the shops to get my babe a bunch of roses. It is a small gesture to show my appreciation for everything she means to me but knowing she likes flowers and seeing her already smiling face light up, is always a moment worth celebrating.

·??????Babies first steps, your child learning to ride a bike, your son bringing your car back in one piece….there are many small moments worth celebrating.

I just finished facilitating a virtual values based round table process with amazing Lebanese people and during that facilitation, I read the words: “Be the best you can be” and thought about that as yet another moment to celebrate. Every time you strive to be your best, regardless of whether it is other people’s best…celebrate!?

I’m sure you get the picture by now; Small moments are so worth celebrating and are so good for your heart and soul, yet we don’t stop often enough to do so.

Become more mindful of those magic moments and, celebrate!

I strongly agree and love this update..In this Precious life, we need balance to show us how we evolve, where we are doing well, how our close family and friends feel about us and how thoughtfully we engage with building relationships. ????
