Celebrating Milestones
School is out for most of our kids and we’re heading into graduation season here in North Dakota. I think it’s always exciting celebrating graduations with family and friends. Graduations allow one to mark the accomplishment of a goal and the opportunity to look at the future ahead. I’ve been reflecting on my own graduation milestones. This year, it will be 30 years for high school and 20 years since finishing my graduate school education. I’m fortunate to have celebrated these milestones and to be able to use the education afforded me to make a difference in the health and well-being of others.
In 2017, when attending open houses for high school students we gave them the book, Together is Better, by Simon Sinek. It’s a short book but packed with so many great messages about life and leadership that can be applied in college or the corporate world. For the graduates and celebrants that have had these special occasions altered during the pandemic, please note that your achievement is not minimized in anyway. I think it’s important to recognize how important you are, and this step is in your life and the lives of those around you. I’m also hopeful that on your next milestone celebration, we can look back at this time and know that we lived our life with purpose.
