Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival serves as a gentle reminder of the timeless importance of family bonds amidst life’s hustle and bustle.
Meet Bus Captain Chow Pei Guan, who truly values familial relationships. She says, "On regular days, catching up with everyone can be tough due to busy schedules. That is why festive seasons like the Mid-Autumn Festival hold immense significance, offering us a chance to treasure the precious ties that bind us.”
For Pei Guan, family and tradition are close to her heart. She fondly remembers her childhood Mid-Autumn celebrations in her hometown in Malaysia, where laughter, lanterns, and fireworks created magical memories. This deep connection to the festival is why she and her mother, Senior Bus Captain Tay Kwe Huah, eagerly participate in the festivities year after year.?
The mother-daughter duo has been part of Go-Ahead Singapore since it commenced operations in Singapore in 2016. Pei Guan derives joy from her work, especially when she encounters thoughtful passengers, who have become her friends. The camaraderie among her fellow bus captains is a source of strength, fostered by the simple yet meaningful act of having breakfast together before their shifts.

This week, while working the morning shift, Pei Guan is looking forward to celebrating the festival with her family, which falls on 29 September. She plans to cook their favourite dishes, including meat for her mother and seafood for herself, and prepare mooncakes for dessert. After dinner, Pei Guan will take her kids to the nearby community centre for some light-hearted fun, complete with traditional candle-lit lanterns.
The jovial spirit not only thrives within Pei Guan's home but also extends to her workplace. She warmly recalls that in previous years when she was assigned the afternoon shift, there was a heartwarming ritual among bus captains – the exchange of mooncakes.
As we immerse ourselves in the joy of the Mid-Autumn Festival, do seize this opportunity to create lasting memories with your loved ones. May this festival be a time filled with love and togetherness for you.?
