CELEBRATING MEDIOCRITY AND 5 THINGS THAT KILLED THE HEADIES 2016

As an artiste, a music producer, a chemical and sound engineer, a script writer and a fashion enthusiast, i have met a lot of people who'd say ''lets just do it anyhow'', i have seen producers and artistes or should i rather say i have worked with different producers and artistes and i know that mediocrity is a factor that must be removed from our professional and daily lives.

Being meticulous is an attitude and a way of life. the first time I was told to be meticulous was when i was in my first year and i actually didn't know what that meant as of then but as i grew older and started pursuing my career, i realized i had to be detailed, coordinated,comprehensive,meticulous and infact i needed to be organized.

The HEADIES 2016 , i mean the supposed African Grammy awards, i mean the supposed best award show in Africa (not even compared to BET / MTV MAMA) flopped because of many reasons but have all being streamlined into 5 reasons.

If any viewer noticed, most of the artistes nominated didn't come and asides that most came and left because the HEADIES has become a normal show where nominees with influence are being told before hand they are the winner( maybe except THE NEXT RATED CATEGORY). At about 1pm, the show was dry , i mean dry, the seats were scanty and the audience were bored by falz and his co host drama. when Chris rock hosted the BET awards, he joked a bit but never turned it to a stand up comedy show. i mean every up and coming artistes, (THE MYOPIC ONES THOUGH) wants to have a gold coated or should we say plated.

The following reasons mugged the African Grammy awards 2016 in Nigeria:

1. Lack of co-ordination

At the end of every presentation,the stage at sometime for about 4minutes was dark and no activity was going on , i guessed eva alordiah and yaw wasn't ready and this happened 3 times consecutively

2. Sound engineering team

The microphones used were at a time not either loud or giving this glitching sound or this elevated noise in the background

3.Interior Design problems

If anybody noticed, the stage was all rough, the materials used for the stage design were all shrunk and towards the stairs was opened and when sheyi shay was performing, every bit of the clothes used for the stage design were shifting from place to place

4. The live band

There was this particular lady there that was backing every song , she was going north with her voice while the band with their drums and other woodwind instruments were going east and the lead singer trying to blend in. i mean at one point i was like, is this a show or the supposed HEADIES? During humble smiths performance, OMG! let alone uncle nabania's performance.

5.Too much comedy activity and the lightning

The moment falz changed to a bobrisky wanna be during the award show was when i knew ''the headies'' was long gone.The comedic activity was, i don't even know how to describe it, it was lugubrious and ridiculous. The show was not scripted and was not organised. AY and in short every comedian that came to present one award or the other messed it up. BOVI came and was talking about beef this,beef that, one sits there, blah blah blah. In short, ''the headies'' this year was ''hands on face'' and artistes not coming really showed that ''the headies'' in few years to come might turn out to be another .....

The camera man self no even help matter, he was just doing that stuff like , well that's the mediocrity we are talking about. Hire professionals from different fields to handle this event and strategically plan it, i mean the lightning effect was like using a touch light to make effect.

what happened at ''the headies'' is the same thing that happens in our suppose hollywood (nollywood), i mean we should stop celebrating mediocrity. Artistes , Actors, Actresses should stop sugar coating events and shows. Well i don't blame or judge, the mediocrity in making beats is so pronounced that every beat sounds alike, no creativity but monotonous beats recycled . 5 by 4 i call it, well, i guess we deserve what we get cause we are not detailed and the black attitude still resides deeply in our minds.

Congratulations to every body that won , even though some of you knew before hand, and some didn't, i congratulate you all.
