Celebrating Matariki: Sharesies’ day off

During Matariki and Puanga (the Māori New Year), we announced to the Sharesies team that they’ll be gifted a day off to spend however they choose. Matariki and Puanga mark a time of reflection; looking back on the past, sitting in the present, and planning for the future.

Reflecting on the past year, we’ve grown a lot here at Sharesies. We’ve gone from a team of 40 to almost 150 people helping to create the most financially empowered generation. There are now over 400,000 investors who have invested $1.5 billion through our platform.

We’re in a phase of hyper-growth, and while that comes with a lot of excitement and opportunity, there are also challenges. We wanted to do something to reflect on the year that’s been (the ups and the downs), and to show care and appreciation for our team.

After all, Sharesies only exists because of the people that bring it to life. One of our values at Sharesies is #AlwaysCare—caring for yourself, caring for the team, and caring for your community.

So this Friday, the team will be taking the day off as a gift of care from Sharesies (and in my opinion, there’s no better gift than time). Whether it’s sharing kai with friends and whānau, taking a long weekend getaway, or heading into the bush, a museum, or a good book—the Sharesies team will have the day to reflect and rest (knowing Slack won’t be pinging!).?
