Celebrating Mandela Day: How AEL Shapes Visionary Leaders for a Resilient South Africa

As we honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela this Mandela Day, it’s crucial to reflect on how his vision for a better world is being worked out in areas like conservation and environmental stewardship. The Academy for Environmental Leadership (AEL), based in the Northern Cape, South Africa, develops future environmental leaders through a one-year, on-site learning experience.

At AEL, Mandela's values of education and service are embedded in every aspect of our curriculum. We are committed to providing a world-class education in conservation ecology, which is vital as South Africa and the world navigate the complexities of climate change, biodiversity loss, and responsible development.
