Celebrating Killeen ISD Employee Excellence!

Going beyond what is expected to meet the needs of students, parents and staff members characterize a pair of educators who are Killeen ISD STEEL Award recipients for the month of April.

Supporting The Education and Empowerment of Learners

Willow Springs Elementary School Campus Facilitator Danielle Whitehead and Audie Murphy Middle School Principal Secretary Sheila Rivas earned this month’s employee awards.?

“She is always willing to step in and help out when there is a need,” Willow Springs Principal Connie Locke said of Whitehead. “She is positive, encouraging and always friendly.”

The campus facilitator goes beyond her challenging job functions and participates in family nights at the school and extends her skills to others.

?“She brings fun and excitement,” said Locke. “She goes above and beyond and assists other schools and mentors as well.”

Audie Murphy Principal Jennifer Warren said Rivas displays a positive attitude and always looks out for those in need of assistance.

Carrie Moss from the KISD Education Foundation pins honoree Sheila Rivas.

“She goes above and beyond as a servant leader,” the principal said. “When someone on the team is down, she steps in.”?

In addition to caring for people, Rivas is first-rate at ordering needed items and maintaining financial records.

“She consistently brings so much positivity and productivity to our campus,” said Warren. “We are blessed to have her as part of our Falcon family.”

STEEL means Supporting the Education and Empowerment of Learners.

The school district unveiled the re-branded monthly employee award this year.

Superintendent John Craft and Assistant Superintendent David Manley joined other district representatives and campus leaders in presenting the surprise awards to Whitehead and Rivas.

The STEEL awards are also?steel awards,?handmade by students in the KISD Career Center welding classes.

Tough, long-lasting, resilient, and consistent, the award personifies each recipient, Craft pointed out in presenting the honors.
