Celebrating Key Milestones

Celebrating Key Milestones

I remember when I had graduated from University, working corporate London, and getting my life on track my sister said to me 'You need to slow down and acknowledge and celebrate all the milestones you have achieved at such a young age, where are you in a rush too?'.

I looked at her in a bewildered way because I was null and void on what key milestones she was referring to, all I knew was the destination.

Fast forward less than 20 years later, after 14 years of being an entrepreneur and a 15 year old boy I completely understand and agree with my sisters sentiments.

Life is not a straight road!

Even if we have a plan and it looks plain as day and simple - there are always curve balls which will be thrown along the way. The curve balls are not bad, they are all the things we could not anticipate, plus an opportunity for us to learn and grow in order for us to be ready for the destination that we are forging towards.

Whilst I was running my marketing agency Sixth Sense Manifesto, across 9 African countries - one thing which I encountered was not being able to live in the moment as we were always planning campaigns 3-4 months in advance, reviewing promotional calendars and pitching for new quarters, I was always thinking about tomorrow and it was hard to take each day as it came.

Today, I find that as I am in my new season of doing business, which is more tasking than previous businesses (I think)...I am learning to take each day as it comes and appreciate the now...this very moment. Sometimes, I have to break my thoughts down into thinking about the very hour I am in because as the word says 'Tomorrow has its own worries and it will take care of itself'. Also, you just never know what God is going to do and when. A day can start off looking dull and flawed, but then God!

My life with God as His daughter, a Mother and an Entrepreneur - I do not place any limitations on what can do and is doing. I simply focus on what I can do and know what and when to let God do what He needs...after all He is the Master planner, the Creator, the God who knew me before I was knitted in my Mother's womb. With all submission, there is nothing to worry about.

So yesterday my team and I received some amazing news, before we could speak about execution, we spent time being in the moment praising God, reflecting on the journey to the milestone, laughing about the fights, the tough times, things that have been said and acknowledging our commitment. Feeling the moment and truly celebrating!

Then we got to work...

Sometimes I still forget to celebrate milestones as I can overlook them due to taking things for granted or having done somethings before. But I am being more intentional - even the things which seem redundant, I am celebrating because it is one step closer to the destination.

  • Take time
  • Celebrate key milestones
  • Only think about today
  • It is all good when you are walking in alignment with our Father

Have a blessed day x
