Celebrating International Day of the Girl Child with an inspiring story
Parveen Khan is the first girl in the village of Behrampur to enrol in college. She is thankful that her family supports her desire to study further. She is now paying forward this gratitude by teaching other students and kindling their joy for learning.
Celebrating International Day of the Girl Child with an inspiring story
Parveen started taking free classes for children at home during the first lockdown. Soon she joined RoundGlass Foundation’s?Learn Labs?as a Changemaker. Learn Labs are after-school centers run by RoundGlass Foundation in villages and urban slums of Punjab. Seeing her progress and enthusiasm, Parveen was encouraged to launch another center in a neighbouring village.
Parveen knows that girls frequently drop out of school for many reasons. She hopes to fuel their interest in education so that parents see the spark in their daughters and support them.
Inspired by Parveen's journey, 8 more girls from her village have started going to college. On this International Day of the Girl Child, we hope that each of these 8 girls inspires 8 more, starting a wave that changes the future of girls in Punjab.
