Celebrating Hungarian Design Excellence at Milano Fashion Week

For the 10th consecutive time, Hungarian designers have taken the international stage at the prestigious Milano Fashion Week, marking a significant milestone in our nation's fashion journey. This remarkable achievement is the result of a five-year strategic partnership between the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency and the The National Chamber for Italian Fashion , further solidifying Hungary's presence in the global fashion landscape. Under the Budapest Select umbrella brand, six outstanding Hungarian brands had the privilege of showcasing their talent to the world.



The CNMI Fashion Hub's opening on September 19, 2023, set the stage for the first wave of presentations by BORBALA, PINETIME CLOTHING, and UNREALINDUSTRY at the prestigious Palazzo dei Giureconsulti. There was a great crowd on the venue, people were interested in the brands presenting under the Budapest Select umbrella brand. The presentation form provided a great oppotunity to look at closely on the collections of the Hungarian designers.

On the following day, the Budapest Select collective fashion show took place in the Palazzo Reale. There, KATA SZEGEDI, THEFOUR, and ZSIGMOND unveiled their Spring/Summer 2024 collections to the nearly 300 attendees. It was a unique experience for all to see the works of the Hungarian designers at such a historical venue. While each brand has its unique style and voice, their freshness and their view on important topics like #sustainability made the Budapest Select collect fashion show especially powerful.

It was a fantastic opportunity for Hungarian designers to participate in the event and showcase their collections at the Milano Fashion Week, because it can increases their international visibility in an efficient and targeted way. Just to mention a few notable figures such as Carlo Capasa, CNMI's President, Suzy Menkes, former editor of VOGUE International, and Sara Maino, creative consultant of Conde Nast Italia, attended the Budapest Select presentation and the collective fashion show.

Buyers from esteemed fashion retailers like Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf, as well as Swiss-based Hay-Hay Concept, Sari Spazio Showroom, and Tomorrow, expressed their interest in #Hungarianbrands. Major Italian Italian fashion magazines and media, including Vogue Italia, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and Fashion United, provided extensive coverage of the #BudapestSelect program, while the largest Italian television network, Rai International, captured the collective fashion show.


As we celebrate a decade of Hungarian design excellence at Milano Fashion Week, we look forward to an even brighter future for our talented designers. With the support of HFDA and CNMI, the Hungarian fashion industry is well-positioned to continue its journey toward international recognition and acclaim.
