In the news

  • While a variety of bills threaten to introduce backdoors that would weaken encryption both in the U.S. and abroad, a coalition of organizations is advocating for the value of encryption to make the internet safer for everyone. What you can do

  • If you are interested in organizing an advocacy campaign to support encryption but don’t know where to start, the Global Encryption Coalition offers a “campaign-in-a-box” toolkit to help you build your own press release or open letter in multiple languages.
  • You can also celebrate by encrypting “all the things” and convincing your friends to do the same. At freedom.press/training, we offer several guides to online safety using software that relies on encryption to ensure your data is private to you, your colleagues, and your sources. Start by checking out our guide to using Signal for end-to-end encrypted messaging or our guide to encrypting data on your storage devices.?

Our team is always ready to assist journalists with digital security concerns. Reach out here, and stay safe and secure out there.

Best,

Martin
