In celebration of Women’s History Month, Ryder & Phelps, P.C. is highlighting each of the amazing women who work in our office.??
Lead Attorney, Kathleen Ryder has always known, even as a young girl, that she wanted to become an attorney. She is enthusiastic about helping others and her people-oriented career very much aligns with these interests. “As a family law attorney, you have an opportunity to support people going through a major life challenge. We are truly counselors. We coach, redirect, support, and advocate for people every single day and I have a passion for this work." The personal connections she develops with clients make her demanding career extremely rewarding.??
Kathleen is a graduate of Suffolk Law School and a member of both the Massachusetts Bar and the U.S. District Court District of Massachusetts. One of her law school professors introduced her to her first employer, who was a great inspiration. She was thrown right into the work and began immediately familiarizing herself with legal rules and forming connections with clients. Early on in her professional career she had the opportunity to work with talented attorneys, both litigants and counsel.?
While opening her own practice wasn’t an initial goal, with the support of great mentors, she eventually realized it was her path. She surrounded herself with the institutional knowledge of other, more experienced lawyers in the field, which drove her to success. Ryder & Phelps, P.C. has been in operation since 2017 and continues to grow. The most rewarding part of opening her practice is providing legal services in a field she is so passionate about, while also working alongside others who share her spirit.??
Attorney Ryder’s fifteen years of experience have also given her insight and wisdom over the Probate & Family Court system. “I would like to create opportunities for assistance outside of court for high conflict cases.? People continue to become polarized by litigating divorce.? The court is overloaded, and litigants do not get the time and attention they need to resolve the real issues going on within the family.” Her various experiences, not only as an attorney, but also as a judicially appointed guardian ad litem, parenting coordinator, and discovery master, make her an exceptional advocate for her clients. Looking to the future, Kathleen is committed to continuing to sharpen her skills and elevating the practice.?
