On the 25th and 26th October 2024, Majuba TVET College hosted a vibrant graduation ceremony in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, celebrating the remarkable achievements of its students across various disciplines. The event showcased graduates from fields such as human resources, finance, and engineering, exemplifying the college's commitment to excellence in technical vocational education.
A key highlight of the celebrations was the recognition of over 2,500 students who, thanks to funding from various Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), were able to pursue their studies without financial barriers. This initiative underscores the college’s dedication to inclusivity and access to education in partnership with other state organs.
Among the distinguished graduates was Sithole Gabisile Ignatia, who achieved an outstanding average of over 90%, securing distinctions in 10 out of the twelve modules she undertook. Her exceptional performance was rewarded with a generous R12 000 from ABSA, further highlighting the support available for top achievers.
Mr Mlotsha, the principal of Majuba TVET College and a soon-to-be graduate himself (Doctorate), delivered an inspiring keynote address. He emphasised the significance of the occasion for both the students and the institution, outlining the proactive steps being taken to align educational offerings with the demands of the job market. As the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) transitions to new occupational qualifications, Majuba has been at the forefront, providing accredited programmes by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) designed to equip students with the necessary skills for success in their chosen fields.

In response to evolving market needs, the college is also introducing qualifications in renewable energy (Solar Photovoltaic Service Technician), air-conditioning and refrigeration, aligning with the Just Energy Transition (JIT) strategic objectives.
To further enhance its educational offerings, Majuba TVET College has partnered with esteemed institutions, including the University of Johannesburg, the University of La Sapienza in Italy, and the University of Peloponnese in Greece. The partnership, through the European Commission's ProTelde project, will see the college integrate digital skills into the curriculum, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the demands of the modern workforce. Workshops have already been held at Majuba College and other partner institutions to train staff on these innovative digital platforms.
