Celebrating Excellence- Elijah Chosen for Young Yale Global Scholars Programme

We are thrilled to announce that Elijah has been selected as one of the winners of the Young Yale Global Scholars academic enrichment programme for outstanding high school students from around the world.?

In June, Elijah will embark on a transformative two-week experience at Yale, immersing himself in classes focused on Economics and Politics.

Reflecting on the application process, Elijah describes it as invaluable practice for future college applications.

As part of the application process Elijah had to write a series of short essays and longer essays based on a set of questions that allowed him to showcase his passions, aspirations, and values. Elijah's responses offered a glimpse into his interests and determination to make a difference within his community.

For example, Elijah wrote about a project he did in the past where he would pick litter to find empty tins. He then grew plants in these tins which would grow food, and any extra plants, and food he grew he would donate to neighbouring communities. He also described how he tutors members of his community in Mathematics when he goes home, and helps people improve their math scores from 20% to 75%.

Elijah’s initiative to repurpose littered tins for growing food, along with his commitment to tutoring community members in mathematics, speaks volumes about his compassion, ingenuity, and leadership qualities.

Whilst the YYGS program highlights Elijah's exceptional academic abilities, it also celebrates his character, values, and potential to implement meaningful change within his community.?

We wish him the very best as he embarks on this exciting experience at Yale and we can’t wait to see where his journey at Pestalozzi World takes him next.
