Celebrating Eight Years in Real Estate: My Journey and Advice for Aspiring Agents

If this is your first time here, welcome! I am really excited to bring this to you as I am approaching eight years in the industry. One of the questions I often get from my audience is: "Melissa, how long have you been in real estate?" Well, in just a few days I’m celebrating my eighth year in this incredible industry! This milestone means a lot to me, and I want to share my journey with you.

Starting Out in Real Estate

Eight years ago, I took a leap of faith and entered the real estate world. It was my first job where I worked entirely on commission and although I am a pretty determined person, I was really scared. I want to share something most people don’t know. Have you ever heard about the NAR stat that says 87% of real estate agents fail within their first two years? Well, that statistic almost included me. The beginning was tough, filled with uncertainty and challenges. But through determination and perseverance, I made it past those critical early years.

The Challenges and Rewards

Real estate is a career that promises the opportunity to help people change their lives and, yes, make some money along the way. However, it’s not always as easy as it looks. My journey has been filled with ups and downs as I am sure many of you have experienced. There were days when I doubted myself, but every challenge I faced made me stronger and more resilient.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been the people I've met and helped. It's incredible to think about the lives I've touched and the families I've helped find their dream homes. But what's even more surprising is how much my clients and colleagues have helped me grow, both professionally and personally.

Celebrating Milestones

Reaching the eight-year mark in real estate is a significant achievement. Many don't make it past the two-year mark, let alone five. Now, at eight years, I'm looking forward to pushing towards ten and beyond. This journey has taught me so much about resilience, dedication, and the importance of a supportive community.

Looking Ahead
