Celebrating... Each other and the journey

It’s my birthday today - but this isn’t about me.

It’s about celebrating - not just milestones, but each other. The moments, big and small, that make up the journey. The people who show up, not because they have to, but because they care.

I’ve been in business for over 20 years now, and if there’s one thing I’ve learnt, it’s that culture matters more than anything. The way people come together, support one another, and lift each other up - that’s what truly makes the difference.

I still remember the early days. A handful of us crammed into a tiny office, working crazy hours, sharing cake whenever someone had a birthday. Sometimes, there wasn’t even cake - just a moment to pause, acknowledge, and appreciate each other.

Fast forward to today. The world has changed. We celebrate in Teams meetings, AI generates birthday cards, and yet, somehow, a candlelit cake still appears at just the right moment, organised by a team who just gets it.

That’s the thing. Technology evolves, businesses grow, but what really matters stays the same - the people. The ones who show up, who make things happen, who turn a workplace into something more.

I think back to those lonelier moments in the early days - waking up at my desk, the cleaner giving me that you pulled another all-nighter, didn’t you? look. Back then, I thought that’s just how it had to be.

But today, I look around and see something completely different. A team of incredible people who push forward, who build something bigger than themselves, who support, lead, and care. And that’s what makes this journey worthwhile.

Stepping back into this team, this energy, this culture - it reminds me why we do this. Why we push, why we grow, why we serve. And most of all, why we celebrate.

Because success isn’t just about what we achieve. It’s about who we achieve it with.

So if you take one thing from this today, let it be this:

Celebrate more. Celebrate the people around you. Their wins, their effort, their impact. Because when you do, you’re not just building a company - you’re building something that lasts.
