Celebrating Design – Insights from Helsinki Design Week ???

Moi Dash Community! ??

As we transition into the fall season, we’re filled with excitement for the new opportunities and collaborations that await us. This autumn, we’re diving into the world of design, creativity, and innovation – and what better way to kick it off than by sharing experiences from Helsinki Design Week??

Our very own Dash members, Miriam Pfeiffer and Yuzu Nakamura , volunteered at HDW, and we had the chance to sit down with them to learn more about their experiences. They shared fascinating insights into the design industry, the importance of community events like HDW, and how it aligns with what we do here at Dash.

?? Volunteering at HDW: A Journey of Creativity and Inspiration

Miri and Yuzu stepped behind the scenes of HDW to help bring this large-scale design event to life. Yuzu got involved to deepen her understanding of Helsinki’s design scene, while Miri was curious to explore how an event of this scale is organized. From setting up venues to assisting with design diplomacy events, their experiences were a blend of learning, creativity, and meaningful connections.?

?? The Importance of Design Events in the Community

Moreover, both highlighted how events like HDW are crucial for the design community. They offer a space for individuals to connect, find inspiration, and gain insight into what others are creating, including the challenges they face and the solutions they pursue. This exchange is invaluable, allowing designers to expand their perspectives beyond their usual circles.

?? Aligning HDW with Dash Values

Both Miri and Yuzu noted the alignment between HDW and Dash in terms of raising creativity, innovation, and collaboration. Miri emphasized that both platforms strive to bring together people with diverse backgrounds to solve important questions and learn from each other. Yuzu expressed excitement about the opportunities Dash has to spotlight the design scene in Finland, drawing inspiration from HDW's ability to connect and inspire creatives.

? Looking Forward

Miri and Yuzu's experiences at HDW remind us of the power of design and community. They encourage fellow Dash members and design enthusiasts to get involved in similar events, as they provide endless learning opportunities and help creating new connections. As Miri aptly put it:

"volunteering offers the chance to ask questions and gain insights that would otherwise be out of reach"

?? Upcoming Columbia Road Event

Don’t forget – we're gearing up for our next exciting event: the Columbia Road x IDBM Klubi x Dash Event on September 26th! This is a fantastic opportunity to delve into the world of business-led design. Make sure to sign up to reserve your spot ??
