Celebrating Danny from Aldi this Apprenticeship Week
6 February, 2023 | by?Natalie Fresen
Store manager Danny Farrell was recently awarded the “Apprentice Champion of the Year”.?
The award celebrates Managers who’ve gone above and beyond to help Apprentices and here at TRB, we think this is something to be excited about. Especially today, the start of?National Apprenticeship Week, #NAW2023.?
Nurturing young talent is important because it can help retailers to not only positively impact company culture, it can develop a pipeline of potential leaders.?
Supermarket giant?Aldi?offers a robust?Apprenticeship Programme?that includes stores, logistics and driver apprenticeships.
Danny joined Aldi UK as a Store Assistant in 2011 at Aldi Prenton, with no previous store experience. Less than a year later he was promoted to Deputy Store Manager and not long after promoted to Store Manager of Aldi Bebington. This is a huge achievement.?
The Lifetime Learner’s Achievement Award in the ‘Apprentice Champion of the Year’ category is to acknowledge Danny’s commitment to helping train and develop young apprentices within the business.

Here’s what Danny Farrell said about his career working with apprentices:
“I love seeing people progress and do well. It’s so nice to look around and see so many people succeeding with Aldi and knowing I have helped or trained them in some way. It fills me with joy and is also one of the most rewarding parts of my job.?
“I believe Apprentices have been key to some great results we have achieved. The apprenticeship scheme allows people to learn from mistakes, grow and progress. They receive great business knowledge and training from the Lifetime Apprentice Trainer, whilst receiving positive feedback and praise from Aldi management when they achieve a target or personal goal.?
“As a team we like to invest heavily in new apprentices and have helped many gain promotion, focusing on helping them develop as people as well as with Aldi.”
It’s never too early to spot a Rising Spark.
Do you have someone in your organisation that is making a shining contribution, showing commitment to their own personal development and displaying talent and the promise of great things to come? Then, why not?enter them into the People in Retail Awards 2023.?It’s free, easy to do and open until 17th March 2023.?

1 年Karen Howard, thanks for posting this. So often we are talking just about retailers... which is great... but really, a business is truly only as great as the people who embody the mission of the organisation, those who go above & beyond to see the company succeed. The brands that understand this fundamental principle empower their employees.? This is the case here for Aldi UK and so to me, these stories are really valuable. #peoplematter Any retailers or PR's that have great stories should get in touch with me. ??
