Celebrating Black Entrepreneurship

Celebrating Black Entrepreneurship

Join the conversations about Black entrepreneurship this February

Last week, we shared how the new era of professionalism is creating a shift not just in how we work, but why we work and how people are choosing career paths that better align with what’s important to them. This Black History Month, let’s celebrate the many Black entrepreneurs who are charting new paths as they seek to align their passions with their work.

Below are stories of just a few of the many Black LinkedIn members who are working to drive change in their communities and beyond. Follow them to learn more about their companies and what motivates them in their journey.

And there are so many more important stories out there. We want to hear from you, either about your own passion project or about the Black people in your network whose work inspires you.

Share a post with the tag #BlackHistoryMonth to join the conversations happening this month. Together, we can spark important conversations and encourage new connections to shine a spotlight on Black entrepreneurs & Black-owned businesses on LinkedIn.

Jason Mayden, Super Heroic

Jason’s journey started as a kid when he first saw a pair of stylish sneakers. He felt like they could give him superpowers. That’s the feeling he hopes all kids get when they wear the shoes from his own sneaker company, Super Heroic.

Sherrell Dorsey, The Plug

The first time Sherrell sat down in front of a computer and started learning to code, she saw a world of opportunity. That’s why she created The Plug, a digital news & insights platform dedicated to reporting on Black innovation trends, bringing underserved and under-covered entrepreneurs and their companies to the forefront of tech’s evolution.

Yelitsa Jean-Charles, Healthy Roots Dolls

As a young girl, Yelitsa was thrilled to receive a doll as a gift, but found herself disappointed when she noticed it looked nothing like her. That experience drove her to start Healthy Roots Dolls, so Black girls like her could play with dolls whose features  - and hair! - looked and felt like their own.

Doyin Richards, Anti-Racism Fight Club

Doyin transformed years of training & learning development experience into the creation of the Anti-Racism Fight Club, a workshop series through which he aims to end racism in workplaces and communities across the globe. He has designed materials for both adults and kids, seeking to give people of all ages the tools to tackle challenging conversations.

Absolutely! ?? As the great Maya Angelou once said, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." Let's honor those embodying this spirit, driving passion and change in their communities. #BlackHistoryMonth ????
