Celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
Having meaningful conversations about our diverse communities remains a top priority for me. I truly believe our collective differences make us stronger through support and advocacy, and the importance of recognizing other cultures is imperative as we work to challenge inequity.
Each year Asian Pacific Heritage Month is observed during the entire month of May in the U.S., recognizing the history, contributions, and culture of Asian Pacific Americans. It’s also a moment to give appreciation to the generations of Asian Pacific Americans who have enriched our communities. At TransUnion, our Employee Resource Group, Pan-Asian Connect strives to develop and establish a community where TU associates can learn more about Asian culture and create connections. This month, the Pan-Asian Connect group will be hosting a variety of internal programs designed to make space for education, awareness, and healing for our associates – celebrating Asian cultures through music, moderated discussions through coffee and conversations, and much more.
This year I also want to take a moment to speak out against the growing violence directed towards Asian Americans in America. The ongoing violence and attacks against the Asian community are unacceptable. While we continue to remain committed to standing up against all forms of racism, I believe in creating safe and equitable spaces for everyone around the world. We need to continue to have conversations that help us move forward and take actions that bring about lasting change. With that, I’m so proud to share that TU associates will have an opportunity to join live sessions on mental health and coping with anti-Asian sentiment with a licensed external clinical psychologist. The uniqueness and diversity of our thoughts and personal experiences continue to contribute to progress.
