Last week, I had the privilege of presenting to about 35 incredible University of Alberta Chemistry graduate students in a seminar titled:?"Graduate Degree... Finished! What Now, What Next? How to Craft an Effective Job Search Project Plan & Build Your Successful Career."

?These graduate students took a bold step forward, showing not only interest but real initiative in shaping their careers outside of academia. It was inspiring to see their commitment to building a future that aligns with their goals and aspirations.

Two powerful takeaways stood out from our session:

These words aren’t magic; they’re a mindset, a way to reframe how you present yourself in conversations. By using them, you can spark curiosity and open doors to opportunities that truly fit your skills and aspirations.

2. The profound, unspoken fears about careers that graduate students face—a powerful resistance that often goes hidden, yet quietly shapes their actions. These fears are not weaknesses; they are natural responses to stepping into the unknown.
