Celebrating 9 Years of Professional Service to Scouting

Celebrating 9 Years of Professional Service to Scouting

1 February 2024, Nairobi, Kenya: Today marks nine years since I joined the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) (World Scouting) as a full-time staff at the World Scout Bureau. It is with immense pride and gratitude that I reflect on the incredible experiences, growth, and camaraderie that have defined these past years.

Working with World Scouting has been more than a profession; it's been a heartfelt commitment to fostering leadership, community, and positive change. Over the course of these nine years, our shared dedication to the Scout Movement has yielded countless adventures, friendships, and transformative moments.

From delivering the much needed non-formal educational programme, organizing life-changing events, to supporting local Scouting initiatives, and inspiring each other through our stories and experiences, each day has been a step forward in building a better world through the values we hold dear. Together, we've witnessed the impact of Scouting on the lives of young people, empowering them to become responsible, compassionate, and active global citizens.

As I commemorate this milestone, I take a moment to appreciate the collective efforts of the millions of volunteers and fellow colleagues over the years that have shaped the Scout Movement into the force for good it is today. The memories we've created, the challenges we've overcome, and the lessons we've learned have all contributed to the rich tapestry of our Scouting journey.

Looking ahead, I am inspired to continue our mission, knowing that the next chapter holds even more opportunities for growth, collaboration, and positive impact. The spirit of Scouting lives in the hearts of each Scout, each volunteer and staff, uniting us in a shared vision for a better world.

Onwards to ten! Here's to another year of adventure, service, and the enduring spirit of Scouting!
