On 15th August 1947, India finally shook off the shackles of British imperialism and heralded a new era of self-rule. Since then, the country has come a long way in terms of its economic, social, and political development. From being a country with rampant poverty, illiteracy, and social inequality, India has emerged as one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.
