Celebrating 6 Years of Comton Group

In 2019, Comton Group was born from a simple but ambitious vision to become the go-to recruitment partner for the metals engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Six years later we have evolved from a specialist recruiter in metal distribution to a trusted partner for fabricators, engineering firms, fastener manufacturers, OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and mills. Along the way we have built lasting relationships, created industry-leading content and played a role in shaping the future of hiring across the sectors we serve.

As we mark our six-year milestone we are reflecting on the journey that brought us here the key moments challenges and successes that have defined Comton Group.

2019 A Bold Start in Metal Distribution

Every business starts with a big idea and a challenge. Comton Group began trading in 2019 and quickly became a trusted partner for metal stockholders and service centres.

From the outset, we wanted to be more than just recruiters so we joined the British Stainless Steel Association and the National Association of Steel Service Centres reinforcing our commitment to the industry. These partnerships laid the foundation for what was to come.

2020 Expanding into Manufacturing and The Metal Guys Talk Business?Podcast

With a strong foothold in metal distribution, we took the next natural step of expanding into manufacturing and engineering.

2020 was also the year we launched?The Metal Guys Talk Business podcast. What started as a side project quickly became a leading platform for industry insights featuring thought leaders from major manufacturers distributors and industry associations.

It was never just about recruitment. It was about building a community and having proper conversations about the industry.

2021 Engineering and Digital Growth with The Launch of The Metal Magazine

As our expertise grew so did our reach. We moved deeper into engineering and high-precision manufacturing placing skilled professionals in critical roles.

To strengthen our position we launched The Metal Magazine providing in-depth video first industry insights and commentary from leaders in the metals and manufacturing sectors.

This was a turning point as we started to help promote the industry online and help businesses share their stories.

2022 The First Comton Cup Turning Competition into Connection

Networking and industry relationships have always been at the heart of what we do. In 2022 we took that commitment further by launching?The Comton Cup.

What started as a friendly competition quickly became a must-attend industry event bringing together professionals from across metals manufacturing and engineering to compete connect and collaborate.

Now an annual tradition The Comton Cup is about more than winning (apparently). It is about building strong relationships in the sector.

2023 Breaking into the OEM and Tier 1 Market

2023 was a year of transformation. We broke into the OEM and Tier 1 supply chain placing professionals in aerospace automotive and heavy industry.

This was also the year we partnered with ISTA the International Steel Trade Association, a milestone reinforcing our reputation as a key player in global metals and engineering recruitment.

2024 Going Global Comton on the World Stage

This year we expanded into global markets placing candidates in foundries engineering firms and aerospace companies worldwide.

We also strengthened our partnerships with ALFED the Aluminium Federation and the Midland Aerospace Alliance further cementing our reputation as a trusted recruitment partner in specialist and high-value industries.

2025 and Beyond The Future of Comton Group

Six years in and we are just getting started.

As we move forward our mission remains the same to connect top talent with industry-leading businesses and to help shape the future of metals manufacturing and engineering recruitment.
