Celebrating 21 Years of Bluewater: A Journey of Endurance, Expansion, and Excellence

Today marks a significant milestone for Bluewater – our 21st anniversary. Reflecting on this journey, I realize that while it's easy to focus on the achievements and growth, it's equally important to acknowledge the challenges we've faced and overcome. As a company, we've weathered at least three major recessions, and each time, we've emerged stronger. This resilience is a testament to the strength of our team and the soundness of our strategy.

Surviving the Hard Times

Let’s be honest. It is a struggle for many small businesses right now. We have customers cutting back, customers experiencing Chapter 11, and people we are talking with who do not have a clear strategy because of the rapid changes in their business activities. There is chaos out there.

One of the most crucial lessons I've learned over the years is that endurance is key. When times get tough, it's not just about surviving; it's about thriving despite the challenges. I am incredibly fortunate to have an amazing team at Bluewater. Their creativity and willingness to innovate, even when the going gets tough, have been instrumental in our success. This dedication benefits not only our customers but also our strategic partners and employees.

Endure, Expand, Explode

To stay relevant and successful for 21 years, there are three fundamental principles I've adhered to: Endure, Expand, Explode.

  1. Endure: Do whatever it takes to survive. This means making tough decisions and necessary changes to continue serving your customers effectively.
  2. Expand: Focus on creating value for your employees and fostering an environment of growth and development.
  3. Explode: Always keep an eye on the future. Innovate and be ready to seize new opportunities as they arise.

As a small business, remember that cash flow is crucial. Maintaining a healthy cash reserve can mean the difference between surviving a downturn and having to close your doors.

The Importance of Integrity

How you conduct yourself during tough times is paramount. Be open, honest, and trustworthy. The worst thing you can do is hide the truth. Speak openly about challenges and work collaboratively to find solutions. For me, my faith has been a cornerstone during difficult periods. I owe any success to God and His provision in my life. While He doesn't hand out success, He provides guidance and direction, which has been invaluable. This faith has allowed me to remain joyful, even during struggles.

Looking Ahead

What does the next 21 years hold for Bluewater? The future is uncertain, but that's part of the beauty of this journey. We take it one beautiful day at a time, always striving to better ourselves and our services. I am deeply grateful to our Bluewater employees, our customers, partners, and my friends who continually pray for our team and me.

Life is an amazing journey. Embrace the difficulties, as they will make you better. Here's to the next chapter of Bluewater, and may it be as enriching and inspiring as the last 21 years have been.

Thank you for being part of this incredible journey.

Enjoy the ride and stay resilient!

With gratitude,

Chris Bond
