Celebrating 20 yrs of Entrepreneurship - lessons learned

Dear valued clients,

As I reflect on the last 20 years of my career, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for your unwavering support and trust in my abilities. Your loyalty and commitment to my services have been an essential part of my success, and I am forever grateful for each and every one of you.

Your continued patronage has not only allowed me to grow and develop as a professional, but it has also given me the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with you. The experiences we have shared together have been nothing short of inspiring, and I cherish the memories we have created.

As I look toward the future, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, and I am confident that our partnership will continue to thrive. Once again, thank you for your trust, loyalty, and support. You have been an integral part of my journey, and I am honored to have had the opportunity to serve you over the past two decades.

Today I’m celebrating 20 years as an entrepreneur in the speaking and training game. ?? ?? ?? I've learned a lot along the way. In honor of 20 years, I'm sharing 20 lessons learned. I hope you find some useful.

?

  1. If you're not failing, you're not trying hard enough. But if you fail too much, you may want to pivot.
  2. "Hustle" is just a fancy way of saying "work yourself to the bone." Don't forget to take breaks and enjoy life.
  3. Money talks, but profits sing. Make sure your business is actually making money, not just raking in revenue.
  4. The client can be right... so listen, as they can provide you with your next best idea.
  5. Networking is important, but so is knowing when to say no to that 5th networking event of the week.
  6. It's not about how hard you work; it's about how smart you work. But sometimes, you have to work hard and smart at the same time.
  7. Cash is king, but laughter is the best medicine. Keep your sense of humor intact, even when the bank account is low.
  8. Procrastination is the enemy of progress. But sometimes, procrastination is the only way to survive.
  9. Taking risks is essential in business, but don't forget to weigh the potential consequences.
  10. You can't please everyone, so focus on pleasing yourself and your clients. The haters going to hate regardless.
  11. Trust your gut, but also trust the data. Sometimes, your intuition is right on the money, but other times, the numbers don't lie.
  12. Time is money, but so is your sanity. Don't sacrifice your mental health for the sake of productivity.
  13. The early bird gets the worm, but the night owl gets the breakthrough ideas. Embrace your own rhythms and work when you're at your best.
  14. Marketing is all about telling a good story. Just make sure it's a true story, or you'll be caught in a lie.
  15. Leading a team can be the hardest thing to do, but it also can be the most rewarding if you step into the shadows and shine a light on your team’s talents.
  16. Collaboration is key, but make sure you're working with people who share your values and vision. Otherwise, it's just chaos.
  17. Never underestimate the power of a good cup of coffee. Or a good brew. Or a glass of wine. Or a good cry.
  18. Always be learning and growing, but also give yourself credit for how far you've come. Celebrate the small wins along the way.
  19. Don't be afraid to pivot or change direction. Sometimes, the best opportunities come from unexpected places.
  20. Remember why you started this journey in the first place. Whether it was to make a difference, follow your passion, or just be your own boss, stay true to that purpose and keep pushing forward.

?

In the end, it's not about the money or the success. It's about the friends and the impact on people and society we made along the way... and the champagne we popped when we finally made it. Cheers to 20 years! ??
