Celebrating 15 Years

Celebrating 15 Years

Today marks my 15th anniversary of the start of my career. I remember it well. I graduated from Ball State on May 7, 2005, and started at what was Mutual Federal Savings Bank on May 16, 2005.

I was so nervous and so green. But so thrilled to work for a “salary” instead of the “hourly” job for which I applied. I knew very little about banking but loved working with people and helping others. That carried me until I could learn banking.

Fast forward and it’s May 16, 2020.

I never imagined staying at my first job more than a couple of years. I ended up staying in that role for six. I never imagined staying at the same company for more than a handful of years. It’s now 15.

I know everyone doesn’t share my same perspective but this is mine, so indulge me a moment.

Mutual Federal changed their name to MutualBank during my tenure. And now we are Northwest. For many, it is a different company. I get it. On paper, that’s true.

But for me, is the evolution of my career and I just see it as a continuation of the passion that started 15 years ago. I see thoughtfulness and compassion for the communities we serve. I see determination to be the kind of bank people choose because of the solutions we can provide and how we can provide them. I see faithfulness to remaining a community bank.

There are changes and I know change is hard. I’m living with those changes every day like so many of my coworkers and customers. But I also feel incredibly blessed to be in this industry, with this company, and with these coworkers.

I choose to embrace the change and celebrate my 15 years. I have always believed, if you work for a good company and pour yourself into your work, the company will invest in you, too. I have seen that both at MutualBank and Northwest so far. And I am grateful.

Onward! Where will the next 15 years take me?
