Celebrating a 10-year anniversary

Uxbridge Glass has been a Glassolutions customer for a decade. But what has kept their partnership so strong? We spoke to them to find out.

Based in the outskirts of London, Uxbridge Glass are manufacturers of the highest quality IGUs for both the domestic and commercial market. In addition to units, they also manufacture painted splashbacks, balustrades and processed glass.

“You name it, we do it”, says Paul Deanus, Managing Director of Uxbridge Glass. “We have never rested our laurels – we constantly try to upskill and diversify our product offering, to ensure that we can meet as many customer’s needs as possible.”

Set up 10 years ago, Uxbridge Glass found itself in need of support to get up and running and so it turned to a trusted source – Glassolutions.

“My Father had a glass business and always worked closely with Glassolutions and Saint-Gobain ”, explains Paul. “So, when we started, we approached Glassolutions, and they were helpful from the start.

“They gave us an account, they helped us in all of the technical areas, helped us to set up the business. We couldn’t have done it without them?

“From then, we’ve stayed loyal to them.”

Ease and quality

Serviced by Glassolutions’ Thurrock site, Uxbridge Glass benefit from the huge range of stock glass and cut-to-size capabilities on offer from the branch - all delivered as quickly as the next working day.

“It’s always so easy to order with Glassolutions”, says Paul. “We just pick up the phone to their central customer service team, and they are all so helpful; it really feels like they give you the personal touch.

“The deliveries are always on time and the product is a very good quality – there’s nothing for us not to love, to be honest!”

Energy Efficiency

Despite the Future Homes and Buildings Standard, which is set to come into force in 2025, opting not to lower window u-values to 0.8W/m2K, the appetite for energy efficiency appears to be undergoing a bottom-up approach, according to Paul.

“We work closely with the commercial sector, supplying IGUs to projects such as hotel builds. And despite there being no regulatory requirement for them to use triple glazing, it is something that is being specified with an eye on the future.

“Businesses want to be energy efficient, and they want to reduce their carbon footprint and be more sustainable, and we’re finding that triple glazing with Low-E interlayers is a popular choice.”

For Uxbridge Glass, Glassolutions’ PLANITHERM? glass is key to this demand.

With the full PLANITHERM? range, from Total Plus to One T, available in annealed cut-to-size, toughened cut-to-size, sheet, or pack quantities, Glassolutions gives IGU customers like Paul the freedom to tailor their manufacturing to their own requirements.

“If we are manufacturing an oversized unit, for example, it may not be practical for us to cut the glass ourselves in-house. But in dealing with Glassolutions, we have the flexibility with to be able to order one piece as a cut-to-size, and the rest as full sheets, which is fantastic.”

An eye to the future

What is next for the Middlesex manufacturers?

“Despite forecasting a tough 2024, we’ve found ourselves to have been consistently busy”, says Paul.

“We continued to diversify, and in doing so, we secured more contracts and more demand. And all we can hope is that 2025 will continue in the same way, if not even better.”
