Celebrate and Reflect: Juneteenth 2022

Sunrise Team,

?This Sunday, June 19, many Americans will celebrate Juneteenth. This day brings an opportunity for all of us to continue to reflect on the meaning and importance of freedom—especially for our Black and African American friends, family, neighbors, team members, and residents. I am thankful to be able to take this moment to pause alongside you to consider how far we’ve come as a nation, and how far we still have to go.

At Sunrise, we embrace diversity, celebrate individuality, and show respect for all. I feel so proud to be a part of this team of diverse individuals, and I am thankful for the way each one of you use your talents and unique experiences to create warm and inviting homes for residents and team members alike.

As we honor and celebrate Juneteenth together, my hope is that each of us will continue to commit to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging at Sunrise. This is an ongoing journey and while Juneteenth reminds us of the work that still must be done, it also inspires us to continue building a brighter future together.

To our Black and African American team members, thank you for all you do to embody our enduring core values and Principles of Service. We are grateful you have chosen to be a part of the Sunrise family, each day sharing your talents, creativity, and commitment to champion quality of life for all seniors. Your perseverance, dedication and contributions are seen, felt, and appreciated. We are committed as an organization—and I am personally committed—to continue listening, learning, and improving to help ensure Sunrise is a home for all.

Thank you to all Sunrise team members for the work you do every day to make that a reality for one another and our residents. You are the heart of this great organization, and I continued to be humbled to be a part of this amazing team.
