Today I want to share my thoughts on finding the gifts and celebrating progress you made in 2024
What are you grateful for?
As the festive season surrounds us with lights, decorations, and various celebrations, it also signals something more profound: the milestone of closing another year.
It’s a natural time to reflect and take stock and to pause amidst the busyness and look back at what 2024 has brought into our lives.
This week, I had the privilege of running an exercise with a group where we explored two simple yet powerful questions:
The responses were as varied and rich as the individuals sharing them.
Some highlighted career milestones, personal growth, or cherished moments with loved ones.
Others shared how they’d overcome significant challenges, finding hidden gifts in experiences that initially felt like setbacks.
The Proccess of reflection
This process of reflection offers profound benefits.
Gratitude allows us to acknowledge the good in our lives, even during tough times. It shifts our focus away from what we lack and toward what we have gained. Celebrating accomplishments, no matter how small, reminds us of the progress we’ve made, often in directions we didn’t anticipate.
Life rarely unfolds exactly as planned.
At the start of 2024, I faced some challenges in my business as two significant projects firmly scheduled in my calendar were either postponed or cancelled. Naturally, this caused some initial anxiety.

However, within these unexpected changes, there are often hidden treasures. With my newfound time, I could focus more on marketing and building relationships within my network.
This shift led to new opportunities, allowing me to work with incredible people and organisations, expand my client base, and engage in work I have found incredibly rewarding.
Perhaps 2024 didn’t look the way you imagined.
Maybe the challenges were greater than anticipated, or the milestones you envisioned feel out of reach. Yet, there are gifts in perseverance, in learning, and moments of connection. I’ve learnt that there is progress in simply continuing to show up, for yourself, your team, your network, your clients and your goals.
As we enter the year's final weeks, I invite you to reflect on the past year.?
It’s not about perfection; it’s about perspective.
We are all where we are, and our current place will differ from our previous place at the beginning of the year. In a world that seems always to be demanding more, taking stock reminds us of our “enough-ness.”?
The gifts of 2024, whether lessons, achievements, or moments of joy are all worth celebrating.
As we enter a new year, let’s carry them forward with gratitude and purpose.
Do share your 2024 reflections in the comments as I would love to know!

2 个月What a great article! For me significant moments of 2024 have included working with exciting new clients and also writing new material. Also learning how to market myself (something I'm still learning!)

2 个月What a beautiful article. I have a reflection session with a very innovative engineering team next week who are working at the forefront of their industry. It has also prompted me to think about our small team here at JTL and what we can be grateful for. I am going to do the exercise as a team on our weekly catch up on Mon. Great prompt. Thank you.
