CDS Touchscreen Troubleshooter Quick Tips

When dealing with a problematic touchscreen, it's important to remember that the issue might not lie with the touchscreen itself but rather with the computer running the touch function. Here are some of CDS' quick tips to troubleshoot your touch screen:

  1. Restart the system: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve many touchscreen issues. Turn off both the touchscreen and the computer, then turn them back on again. This will reset certain functions that might be causing signal interruptions.
  2. Check the USB connection: Ensure that the USB cord connecting the touchscreen to the computer is securely plugged in. If possible, try using a different USB port on the computer. If no other port is available, blow some air into the USB plug to remove any dust that might be affecting the connection. Similarly, check the USB plug attached to the screen for any loose connections.
  3. Test with a different computer: Connect the touchscreen to a different computer that you know is functioning properly, even if it's not a touchscreen computer. If the touchscreen works with the alternate computer, then the issue lies with the original computer.
  4. Verify power supply: Confirm that the touchscreen has been receiving power. Sometimes, the screen itself may be fine, but the power pack or associated components might have failed. Power surges can damage various parts of the screen. If possible, try using a power supply from a similar screen to diagnose the issue. Once identified, we can promptly provide a replacement power supply.
