1/3?InterContinental Dubai Festival City
InterContinental Dubai Festival City is a luxury five-star hotel in?United Arab Emirates, operated by IHG Hotels & Resorts.?It is located on the Dubai Creek, adjoining the Dubai Festival City Mall, opposite the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, with the Burj Khalifa behind in the distance. It is also close to Dubai International Airport.
2/3?CDN Lighting Solution
This project will discuss CDN's experience in lighting design for the renovated areas at the InterContinental DFC, including two ballrooms and their pre-function areas, as well as two entrances and lobbies.
Lobby
The hotel lobby is the first impression guests have upon entering the hotel. The lighting in lobby not only needs to highlight the grandeur and openness of the space, but also provide guide and visual comfort for the guests.
The ”Dubai“?Downlights and light strips used on the ceiling provide uniform ambient lighting, illuminating the entire lobby. The lighting is mainly predominantly features warm white tones,?enhancing the overall sense of openness and luxury of the whole space.
Pre-Function Areas
The hotel corridor design is very delicate and elegant. Maintaining warmer color temperatures for the gold tones in the interior was important. “Dubai” Downlight and Linear Light can provide the desired color temperature for the warm and inviting feel. Several wall artworks are highlighted with adjustable LED spotlight to highlight the colors and details.
The door frame used LED strip - XS Series highlight the outline, which helps to distribute the indoor light more evenly and reduce the lighting blind spots. In addition, the light can guide people to specific areas and find the right entrance to go.
The rest area is decorated in a modern and simple style. Wooden chairs, tables and fresh green plants are placed on the carpet. The circular linear light strip on the ceiling is combined with the recessed downlights to ensure that the entire area is well lit, providing a space suitable for reading, resting or chatting.
Inground lights are generally installed on the ground. In this project, the "Potenza" Inground Lights are arranged along the bottom of the wall, emitting soft light, providing indirect lighting for the space and increasing the layering of the wall decoration.
Ballrooms
The ballroom is an extremely vital event venue in the hotel, carrying a variety of functions such as weddings, meetings, celebrations, etc. The lighting must not only ensure sufficient illumination levels, but also create a flexible atmosphere?for different scenes.
"Dubai" Downlight and C-Series Strip Light are also used in two ballrooms, which helps warm the large space up and makes them more opulent.
The lighting design of the banquet hall fully considers the key factor of UGR (Unified Glare Rating). By selecting fixtures with a UGR < 6, glare is minimized, effectively preventing visual discomfort. This consideration is especially important in ballrooms equipped with LED large screens. Our goal is to create a bright and comfortable environment through meticulous lighting layout, ensuring that guests enjoy the feast while also having the best visual experience.
Entrance
When taking the elevator to the upper floor, lights are arranged along the sides and top of the escalator, forming a light channel to guide guests?to use the elevator safely. The lighting design of the escalator takes into account both aesthetics and creates a modern escalator.
