CCW #005: Bad Habits Will Kill You. Here's How to Control Them.

In this issue we're going to talk about the 3 steps to fill your life with definiteness,?rhythm and success.

Let's get started!

Step 1: Get Your Mind Right

Lao Tzu — 'Watch your?thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your?actions; watch your?actions, they become your?habits; watch your habits, they become your character."

Directing your thoughts is the first step toward success. It involves two primary assets: your conscious mind and your subconscious mind.

The best way to use these two assets most effectively is by doing the following...

  • First, hold in your conscious mind as often as possible a clear picture of yourself already having accomplished your definite objective (DO).
  • Second, send repeated suggestions to the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind will accept these suggestions as fact and begin to construct ways of bringing your DO to life. (Make notes, talk to yourself out loud, read your DO often, etc.)

Step 2: Create an Action Plan

After you have your DO fixed in your mind, you need to do four things:

  • First, create a plan to satisfy the attainment of your DO.
  • Second, create a roadmap outlining your goals in three phases (yearly, quarterly, monthly).
  • Third, create a schedule outlining you daily routine.
  • Fourth, work your plan every day.

Step 3: Check Your Habits at the Door

Unknown - "Motivation is what gets you there. Habits are what keep you going."

The first two steps are critical to creating a rhythm of definite habit and insuring the attainment of your DO.

Your life is the sum of your habits. You are where you are now, because of the repetition of thoughts and actions you've done in the past.

Making habits that stick can be hard, here's how you can get started and make new habits stick.

  • Start with setting small goals you can accomplish relatively easy and in the attainment of your DO.
  • Build good habits using these small goals as a foundation for larger more complex goals.
  • Replace old habits with the new habits formed from these newly attained goals.

After a few months of replacing old, bad habits with new, good habits you will have the momentum to accomplish your DO.
