CCI France Myanmar’s Human Resources Committee is launching an extensive anonymous salary survey in Myanmar, covering all main sectors and main positions. This survey will be conducted every six month, in order to update gathered information on a regular basis, and its results will be shared freely with all companies in Myanmar.
This online questionnaire was prepared by MyWorld Myanmar’s team. Mr. Simon Bruce, General Manager of MyWorld Myanmar, and a member of the CCI France Myanmar’s HR Committee, explains that the decision to launch this survey came from the “lack of access to accurate salary benchmarks in Myanmar, which is a common problem for companies. Chambers, Recruitment, Training and Law Firms are constantly asked for this information. However, they are not able to supply extensive enough information, which puts companies at a disadvantage when conducting salary reviews or hiring of new staff.”
Therefore, the CCI France Myanmar’s HR Committee is hoping to counter this challenge by conducting a biannual anonymous salary survey. The target is to gather the information from 500 companies at least, for the results to be representatives.
Daw Ma Ma Naing, HR Manager of Sule Shangri-La Hotel, and Co-Chair of the CCI France Myanmar’s HR Committee, says that “this survey will be of very valuable use to the companies who take the time to take it. Indeed, in the absence of reliable information in Myanmar, companies have no way to see if they are under or overpaying their staff. With this information, they will be able to better negotiate with new or existing employees.”
“It is important for this survey to be anonymous”, continues Mr. Guillaume Sautier, General Manager of International SOS, and Co-Chair of the HR Committee. “Indeed, no company wants this kind of confidential information to be shared with competitors or on the market. At the same time, they also need information on the level of salaries in their sector. The anonymous online questionnaire guarantees both anonymity and access to the data. No one, even in our Committee, will be able to access to individual answers from companies.”
CCI France Myanmar will share the results of this survey freely with all companies in Myanmar. “We are not making any money with that project”, insists Mr. Guillaume Rebiere, Executive Director of CCI France Myanmar. “We do that only to help all companies and entrepreneurs operating in Myanmar. This will also help employees with their salary expectations. But, we need hundreds of companies to take the survey for its results to be useful and representative. Which is why we really count on everyone to participate in this project. We just need a few minutes of your time, a small investment compared to the return you will get from it”, he concludes.
This survey will be renewed every six months, in order to keep the results up-to-date. The result and report will on free access on CCI France Myanmar’s website (www.ccifrance-myanmar.org).
This project is part of the activities which will be implemented by the CCI France Myanmar’s Human Resources Committee, which brings together 15 Members of the French Myanmar Chambers of Commerce and Industry, representatives of the different sectors.
This HR Committee, which is co-chaired by Daw Ma Ma Naing (Sule Shangri-La Hotel) and Mr. Guillaume Sautier (International SOS), aims at helping Members of CCI France Myanmar to discuss shared challenges, to exchange information and to implement project together.
The next upcoming activity implemented by the HR Committee will be the publication of a Human Resources Guide to Myanmar, which will use parts of the results of the salary survey.
The results of the survey are expected to be published in July 2018.
