Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA)
A coalition of leaders committed to deploying finance for city level climate action at scale by 2030.
The first quarter of 2024 has been quite eventful for CCFLA. We had the pleasure of meeting some of you face-to-face at the LUCI PPF Connector workshop in London, while also engaging with many others through our member update calls and Action Groups.
We've had the privilege of participating in various events recently, including the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group Meeting, UNEA-6 Cities and Regions Summit, the Asia-Pacific Sustainable Development Forum, the UrbanShift Academy, and the 2024 GCoM OpenHouse. We've also enjoyed participating in webinars hosted by GCoM South Asia, IADB, and UNESCAP among others.?
Over the coming months, we will kick-start our new Urban Adaptation and Resilience Finance Workstream, and launch our new Local Hub in Brazil, and would love to hear from you if you are interested in collaborating on either of these projects. ?

Report | Financing Green Buildings in Indonesian Cities
CCFLA's three part series on net zero carbon buildings concludes with a deep dive into the green buildings sector in Indonesia. Adapting CCFLA's recently developed taxonomy of 75 financial and policy instruments, the report assesses current usage of these instruments and how regulatory frameworks can address barriers to investment in green buildings.

Achieving net zero carbon buildings is crucial for cities to reduce emissions and keep the world on track to limit global warming. This portal provides insights and research on policy and financing instruments for cities to overcome barriers to net zero carbon buildings.

Workshop | LUCI PPF Connector
CCFLA convened 18 representatives from member organizations in London to discuss the challenges and solutions for successful project handoffs. The day included 3 collaborative sessions aimed at identifying the ideal handoff process and priorities for the PPF Connector for 2024 and beyond.
Event | Members’ Update Call
CCFLA hosted its first members’ update call of 2024, bringing together over 40 members to share priorities for the year. Members shared their plans and ambitions, as well as opportunities for collaboration, and heard from the CCFLA Secretariat the priorities for the year ahead. Roundtable | Central Asia Hub?
CCFLA’s Central Asia Hub hosted its 3rd roundtable virtually, which represented a crucial step towards elaborating a joint virtual course helping address awareness and technical capacity issues preventing the scaling of net zero carbon buildings in Central Asia. Further information will be shared soon.?
Update Calls | Action Groups
CCFLA’s Action Groups held their first update calls of 2024 to share plans for the year.
The Project Preparation Action Group (PPAG) call saw a presentation from the C40 x GCoM Joint Programme on the Global Project Pipeline.
The Finance and Enabling Environment Action Group (FAEE AG) call featured presentations from Urban-Act, UN-Habitat and ICLEI.

Event | G20 Sustainable Finance WG?Meeting
CCFLA’s Priscilla Negreiros participated in the SDG Finance in Cities side event of the 2nd G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (WG) Meeting. Joining a panel discussion on the ‘Role of MDBs and Vertical Climate and Environmental Funds’, Priscilla shared insights from CCFLA’s report on MDB reform and discussed the alignment of financing strategies with urban Sustainable Development Goals.?

CCFLA collaborated with the UNEA-6 Cities and Regions Summit to co-host a session on ‘Facilitating subnational governments’ access to climate and development finance,’ bringing together stakeholders from across public and private finance to discuss this topic. Catch up with the recording now.
