LEGALITY OF AI

The Cliff Notes

With the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in many workplaces, legal questions start to pop up about its use for creatives. We listened to what lawyer and expert Brad Frazer has to say about it.

A significant challenge arises in the realm of AI, as the uncontrollable proliferation of AI-generated content makes it difficult to maintain exclusive rights over creative works.

  • Something you create has to be “sufficiently creative” in order for it to be considered copyright
  • AI has made it even more difficult to monetize creative work because now it can easily be replicated elsewhere
  • We cannot have a copyright on AI-generated content or creatives
  • The use of passing off AI as our own work is considered Fraud and Breach

According to Frazer, AI is not likely to survive because of the multiple class actions filed against it. He recommends the implementation of AI usage policies within companies to mitigate the risks associated with AI-generated content.

At the end of the day we all have to ask ourselves “do we want to be ethical” and make our choices from there.

STANDING WITH A CAUSE

The holidays are a great time of the year for weaving efforts geared toward community causes into your marketing plan and brand initiatives.

To weave yourself into the community, you have to build a relationship with the community.

Start with the non-profits:

  • Find a non-profit that serves a community you care about
  • Get involved at the non-profit
  • Start a partnership

When you strengthen your business ties to the community, you become a more integral part of the community.
