CBBC Newsletter: Our Latest News & Updates, July Edition

July has been a busy month for the team at CBBC. On the 4th of July, we hosted the?China Consumer 2023 Conference : an event from which we continue to receive excellent feedback from attendees, and which presented an exciting opportunity for UK consumer brands to hear about the latest developments in China from expert speakers representing brands including?Burberry,?Brompton Bicycle,?Diageo,?Harrods,?and?Creed, amongst many others. In the evening, we hosted our?Summer Reception?- bringing together the UK-China business community to mark the growing positivity in the UK-China business environment. Attendees were?joined by China’s Ambassador to the UK, who reinforced the continued need for people-to-people links as the foundation of a strong relationship between the UK and China. More recently,?CBBC supported the Shanghai Government’s visit to the UK, including a keynote address from Xie Dong, Vice-Mayor of Shanghai. As part of this conference, CBBC signed an MOU with Invest Shanghai, further strengthening our connections with one of China’s key economic centres. Learn more?here .

Looking forward, we have an?active pipeline of delegations?travelling to the UK from China, presenting an exciting opportunity for UK-based businesses looking to build commercial connections with the Chinese government and companies alike.

Over 200 delegates?attended CBBC's flagship?China Consumer 2023 Conference ?and Summer Reception, which took place on 4th July at London's No.4 Hamilton Place.?

At the Conference,?attendees heard from speakers representing leading global companies, who discussed the current trends and future opportunities within the Chinese consumer landscape for British consumer brands.

The?Summer Reception brought together the UK-China business community?to mark a turning point: with the end of Covid travel restrictions, the focus on economic growth in China, and the improved UK-China political context adding up to a significantly?more positive environment for UK-China business?after the challenges we have seen over the past two years.

The?second day of our China Consumer 2023 programme ?took place on 5th July in CBBC’s London office and online.?British Consumer brands?were provided the chance to meet with?leading China Partners and Chinese Influencers.

The event also included an?exclusive afternoon Private View of ARgENTUM Apothecary and Reception?at their London venue.

CBBC & Invest Shanghai team up on promotional event in London

A campaign?promoting investment in Shanghai?to businesses in the UK was held in London on Tuesday 11th July. Representatives from groups across the Chinese and British political and business communities attended.

The event was?organised by?Shanghai Municipal Government?and supported by CBBC and the?China Chamber of Commerce in the UK.

CBBC Chief Executive, Andrew Seaton?signed an MOU?with?Xue Feng, President of Invest Shanghai?- committing to further collaboration on supporting UK and Chinese businesses to develop bilateral trade and investment.

Lunch briefing with the Tianjin Binhai High-Tech Development Area

On Thursday, 13th July, CBBC?welcomed a delegation from Tianjin Binhai High-Tech Development Area, a science and technology-focused zone located in?one of China's largest ports. The area consists of Huayuan Science and Technology Park, Ocean Science and Technology Park, Bonong Lake Science and Technology Park and Beijing-Tianjin Cooperation Demonstration Zone.

Party Secretary Xia Qinglin and CBBC's Chief Executive, Andrew Seaton?discussed areas of cooperation and?signed an MoU?agreeing to cooperate, share resources, and promote business and investment ties in future.
