Assisting start-ups evolve a go-to-market strategy, introducing the right partners, influencers & investors for scaling
Detect Technologies has teamed up with CAXperts GmbH to bring results of its AI based asset inspection product line NOCTUA to an industry leading viewer platform namely UniversalPlantViewer (UPV). UPV is a solution for a single-point-of-truth model including all data, attributes and documents and an ideal Digital Twin platform. Noctua is an AI tool that can take visual / thermal (drone based or fixed camera based) videos of Assets such as – Stacks, Boilers, Pipe racks, Crude Furnaces and come up with completely automated insights on the area of defects, this in turn helps predict maintenance and assists in advanced maintenance planning.
Inspections is an area where CAXperts had not forayed up until now, UPV has been so far mainly used in the engineering departments and as an aid to construction along with CAD aided progress monitoring. Now this partnership with Detect has helped them expand the usage of their software to the plant inspection and maintenance domains. Henceforward during a turnaround event UPV can come in handy for customers to view the results of asset inspection.
For Detect which has had a very successful run in India in the last 4 years, slowly moving in to the Asia Pacific and North American regions, this partnership could not have come up at a more appropriate time, when they are on the verge of scaling their operations globally. The other advantage that CAXperts brings to Detect is the wide usage of their applications globally in the oil & gas market including plant Owners, EPCs, downstream chemical plants, fertilizer plants and equipment vendors.
Extensive testing has been conducted by the Detect and UPV teams to reach this stage and the latest features of UPV are aiding to enhance the representation of the inspection results. UPV can now incorporate texture rendering to the models which gives them a more realistic look and soon it will be possible to overlay images on top of the UPV model. The current release of UPV is also able to display thermal images from thermal inspections of assets.
The future of this partnership has a great potential. Detect is looking into bringing in the Integration with the UPV to their other product line namely GUMPS. GUMPS is an NDE method to monitor the build up of corrosion in critical lines. It would be interesting to explore bringing GUMPS analytics results to both IntelliPID (the P&ID viewer) as well as UPV.
This asset inspection integration with UPV is planned to be shown in an upcoming joint webinar between Detect Technologies and CAXperts GmbH on 3rd September.
