Creator-led gaming platform in India??

No alt text provided for this image

Eloelo, a Bengaluru-based startup is India’s live-social gaming platform. Creators can host interactive live gaming sessions on a short video platform. After the live ends, creators can interact in real-time with their audience. The startup has currently raised $2.1 million in funding led by KB Investments, Kalaari Capital, and others. Saurabh Pandey, the CEO & Co-founder says - "Games like Tambola, Antakshari, Dumb Charades, and Chidiya Udd are all being played in a live show hosted by creators and with thousands of users participating together. It recreates the TV show concept but for smartphones.”

Our view

The Mobile Gaming Industry in India is expected to be valued at $7 billion by 2027. With an audience of over 10 million,?we believe that Eloelo is enabling users to not only connect and play with their favorite creators but also build deeper connections with them. As a result, creators will be able to grow their audience at a faster rate through the live social video platform.

TikTok is coming back to India???

No alt text provided for this image

TikTok, the fastest-growing short video platform which is currently banned, is planning to make a comeback?through a new partnership with?Hiranandani Group,?which is one of India’s largest real estate players in India. The real estate developer also runs data center operations under Yotta Infrastructure Solutions and recently ventured into the consumer technology arm called Tez Platforms.

Our view

Startups like Moj, MX Taka Tak, and others have levelled up their offering to fill the void that TikTok left during it’s exit from the?Indian market. Should TikTok make it’s way into India again these Indian players will have to find a suitable retention strategy to keep their audience engaged. On the flip side,?TikTok will face stiff competition with Instagram Reels which has become very popular among Indians.

Instagram updates Reels to 90 seconds??

Creators will now be able to create reels for up to 90 seconds and will also have access to an expanded selection of sound effects on Instagram. Not just that, creators can also import audio into their reels from the?‘Import Audio’ toggle feature.

Our view

54% of users in India prefer watching Instagram Reels over TikTok videos. We believe that by increasing the time limit, creators will now be able to engage more with their audience and showcase their authentic selves. This move puts Instagram ahead of TikTok, with TikTok videos being 1 minute long.
